A school on the other side of the bridge written by Ashraf Forough provides a thoughtful analysis of the Afghan society and investigates the destructive effects of superstition and stagnation from two social and psychological perspectives. A teenager who is forced to accept irrational and superstitious beliefs due to a turbulent family life and limited educational and economic opportunities. Forough's novel examines psychological and social factors that lead young generations to radical and extreme ideologies. This novel follows the journey of Afghan youth, how they try to find their place in society, but often face obstacles due to financial limitations and lack of knowledge, which unintentionally leads them to extremist groups.
